Gary L. Kreps is a distinguished university professor and director of the Center for Health and Risk Communication at George Mason University. His active research program examines the strategic influences of communication on health promotion for at-risk populations and his work appears in more than 500 frequently cited publications. He coordinates the International Studies to Investigate Global Health Information Trends (INSIGHTS) translational research coalition that collects national data on public access and use of relevant health information in more than 20 countries across five continents. He has received numerous research honors, is an elected fellow of both the International Communication Association and the American Academy for Health Behavior and is also a National Communication Association Distinguished Scholar. He has mentored many post-doctoral scholars, guided more than 200 doctoral and master’s graduate students, and advised numerous government agencies and research organizations.
