Michelle Saunders is a third year PhD student at the University of South Florida. Her research interests include atmospheric hazards, severe weather, and climatology. She is also interested in risk perception and risk communication as they relate to severe weather hazards. Her dissertation focuses on understanding and conceptualizing the use and value of a radar display by smartphone users, which is currently unknown. She would like to continue researching within the field of geography as it bridges the gap between the physical and human aspects of weather. Geography is also important to her as it provides a spatial component to her research. She enjoys researching about hurricanes, tornadoes, and weather information tools.
