How You Can Help Support
the Natural Hazards Center

The success of the Natural Hazards Center relies on the ongoing support and engagement of the entire hazards and disasters community. The Center welcomes and greatly appreciates all contributions. The Center is a 501(c)3 organization and all contributions are tax deductible. There are several ways you can help:

Support Center Programs

Center Operations
By giving a donation to support the Center’s operations you provide essential funding for programs and projects such as the Natural Hazards Observer. These unrestricted gifts contribute directly to the Center’s ongoing operations. To discuss making a gift, please contact Kathleen Tierney at kathleen.tierney@colorado.edu or (303) 492-6818.

Mary Fran Myers Scholarship
The Mary Fran Myers Scholarship provides financial support for recipients to attend and participate in the annual hazards workshop to further their research or career paths. This scholarship covers transportation, hotel accommodations, meals, and workshop registration fees. Each year, the recipient or recipients are recognized at the workshop and may be asked to serve as panel discussants, where they can highlight their research or practical experiences in the hazards and disasters field. To discuss making a gift, please contact Kathleen Tierney at kathleen.tierney@colorado.edu or (303) 492-6818.

Support the Endowments

Center Endowment
The Center’s main endowment helps ensure that the Center will have stable, sustainable funding far into the future. Administered by the CU Foundation, a growing endowment will allow the Center to develop new and innovative programs while enhancing existing projects. Gifts of any size are greatly appreciated and will go toward building the principal on the endowment. To discuss making a gift, please contact Kathleen Tierney at kathleen.tierney@colorado.edu or (303) 492-6818.

Gilbert F. White Endowed Graduate Research Fellowship
Named after the Center's founder and long-time mentor, the Gilbert F. White Graduate Research Fellowship in Natural Hazards Mitigation will honor White by reflecting his life-long dedication to furthering knowledge and research regarding ways to alleviate the human suffering caused by natural hazards. The post will ensure that hazards mitigation remains a central concern of academic scholarship. The fellowship will be open to any scholar in a relevant social science discipline and will reside at the Natural Hazards Center. To discuss making a gift, please contact Kathleen Tierney at kathleen.tierney@colorado.edu or (303) 492-6818.
