Vital, Cultural, and Historic Record Preservation

Thursday, 3:30-5:00 p.m., Fir

A major disaster that causes the destruction of vital records, judicial documents, disaster response and recovery plans, and historic or cultural artifacts has the potential to greatly disrupt civil society. The preservation of vital documents, such as birth and death certificates, judicial and criminal records, and government continuity plans, is critical. Plans for protection of official records must be in place. This panel will also explore mitigation practices and continuity of operations plans for cultural collections, which are beginning to be acknowledged as critical infrastructure.
