Public Health Crises and the Emergency Manager
Tue. 8:30-10:00 a.m., Interlocken A
This session will discuss best practices for cooperation and collaboration among local public health officials and emergency management teams, both during natural and technological disasters and during public health crises. The two groups have historically operated separately and often not had close interactions. But recent events—including the H1N1 outbreak—have highlighted the need for tighter collaboration. Lessons learned from last year’s spread of H1N1 will be presented, along with discussion of how to better integrate public health into emergency management, and vice versa.
