Who Prepares and for What in California and the Nation?

Mon. 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Spruce

The National Survey of Disaster Experiences and Preparedness (NSDEP) examined whether households in the United States had engaged in proactive preparedness or avoidance activities since September 11, 2001, and whether the activities reported were motivated by terrorism, natural disasters, other reasons, or any combination of reasons. Data were collected between April 13, 2007, and February 13, 2008. The California Survey of Household Earthquake Preparedness and Mitigation documents the current state of household mitigation and preparedness for disasters in the State of California, with an emphasis on earthquakes. Data were collected from June 26 to December 18, 2008. Findings from these two surveys are reported.
