Tanja FransenTanja Fransen


Tanja Fransen is the warning coordination meteorologist with the National Weather Service (NWS) in Glasgow, Montana. Her professional interests include the societal impacts of weather, major fire weather events, and severe summer and winter storms. Fransen currently serves as the co-lead for the NWS Skywarn Modernization Team, is a member of the American Meteorological Society (AMS) Board of Societal Impacts, chairs the IMPACTS Weather session at the annual AMS meeting, and is on the National Weather Association Committee for the Societal Impacts of Weather and Climate.

Fransen was one of the first Weather and Society Integrated Studies (WAS*IS) workshop fellows in 2005 and has participated in several Advanced WAS*IS workshops. In 2003, she received the prestigious National Weather Service Isaac Cline Award for Leadership. Fransen graduated from the University of Northern Colorado in 1995, and has been with the NWS since May of 1994.
