Jack Rozdilsky is an assistant professor of emergency management in the Health Sciences program at Western Illinois University, specializing in natural hazards and emergency management issues. His research focuses on the social and physical aspects of long-term disaster recovery. He has studied the management of domestic disasters, including the 1993 Mississippi River floods, Hurricane Katrina, and the 2007 Greensburg tornado. He participates in overseas research on issues related to volcanic disaster recovery in the Caribbean and Mexico, emergency management in Israel, and environmentally forced migration. His recent work involves exploring how non-governmental agencies are planning to respond to the Deepwater Horizon environmental disaster.

Rozdilsky holds Bachelor of Science degrees in geology and environmental science from Bradley University. He earned a master’s degree in environmental science from the University of Illinois-Springfield and a doctorate in resource development-urban studies from Michigan State University.
