The second, titled “Haitian-Americans as Critical ‘Bridges’ and ‘Lifelines’ for Recovery and Rebuilding in Haiti,” focuses on understanding the role of the Haitian-American community in relief, recovery, and rebuilding efforts because of the Haitian Earthquake. It will document trends and profiles of the influx of displaced persons in South Florida and collect and analyze U.S. policies and plans created at the federal, state, and local level in response to this potential (or perceived) influx.
