Eddie SosebeeR. Edwin Sosebee

Eddie Sosebee is the former operations manager for the West Point Project, an Army Corps of Engineers multipurpose water resource project south of Atlanta, Georgia. Before retiring in 2006, Sosebee provided support to the Corps’ Emergency Management Program. He has responded to multiple disasters that required debris removal, including Hurricane Fran, flooding in Virginia, Typhoon Pongsona in Guam, the World Trade Center, and the 2003 Southern California wildfires. He has also aided in the recovery efforts for hurricanes Isabel, Charlie, Frances, Ivan, Katrina, Gustav and Ike.

Although the majority of Sosebee’s career focused on the operational aspects of disaster debris management, he also served as a liaison for the Federal Emergency Management Agency, where he provided technical debris management assistance to local governments. His last assignment before retiring was the Corps Area Engineer responsible for Hurricane Katrina debris removal in Alabama.

Since retiring, Sosebee continues to work with the Army Corps, providing technical assistance to various debris removal operations. He currently serves the Corps in developing training materials, field operations guides, and instructing debris removal training courses.
