Dara AngeloDara Angelo

Dara Angelo will graduate with a master's in geography from the University of South Carolina in May of 2012. Her research topic, the impacts of optimism on evacuation behavior, is a union of two interests: the psychology of hazards, which includes post-traumatic stress disorder and resilience, and human coping skills after a disaster. She is studying whether mental states before a disaster can affect preparation behavior and the ability to bounce back from stressors. She plans to pursue a career in emergency management and hopes to work with the human side of hazards.
