William Becker
				  William Becker is a senior associate of the London-based sustainability  think tank, Third Generation Environmentalism (E3G). He leads E3G’s U.S.  office in Washington, D.C., where he works on climate security issues,  including how the U.S. military and federal government assess and manage  climate risks. 
				      
			        Becker also is the senior energy and climate policy expert at  Natural Capitalism Solutions in Boulder, Colorado. He leads The Future  We Want, which uses advanced communications technologies to help the  public envision what life would be like in a carbon-constrained  sustainable society. He also consults with the National Sustainability  Network, an initiative based at the New America Foundation to  demonstrate “full spectrum sustainability” improving community  resilience and security.
 Between January 2007 and January 2011, Becker was executive director  of the Presidential Climate Action Project, an initiative that produced  more than 200 recommendations for the 2008 presidential candidates and  the White House on clean energy and climate policy. He was a senior  official at the U.S. Department of Energy for 15 years, including a  decade as DOE’s Central Regional Director, where he administered DOE’s  programs to move energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies to  market. He is an internationally known expert on sustainable community  development as well as climate and energy policy. 
				      
			        A former journalist who began his career as a war correspondent in  South Vietnam, his most recent book—The 100 Day Action Plan to  Save the Planet—was published by St. Martin’s Griffin in New York.
