Kelly KlimaKelly Klima

Kelly Klima is a doctoral candidate in the Department of Engineering and Public Policy at Carnegie Mellon University. In addition to her studies, Kelly directs SUCCEED: The Summer Center for Climate, Energy, and Environment Decision-Making, a five-day program designed to complement ninth grade studes and provide students with opportunities that expand their understanding of energy and the environment and how theu relate to climate change.

Klima also serves as the student representative on the Natural Hazards Executive Committee in the American Geophysical Union. She has published in ES&T and Transportation Research, has presented at several conferences, and won numerous presentation awards, including the 2010 Natural Hazards AGU Outstanding Student Paper Award and the Best Presentation Award at the 2010 Technology, Management, and Policy Consortium. Klima plans to defend her Ph.D. thesis entitled Does Tropical Cyclone Modification Make Sense? A Decision-Analytic Assessment in September of 2011.
