Michele Wood is acting director of the California-Nevada Public Health Training Center, a collaboration of San Diego State University, Loma Linda University, University of Nevada at Las Vegas, and California State University, Fullerton, at CSU Fullerton.

Her teaching experience includes courses on program design and evaluation, drugs and society, critical thinking, introduction to statistics, multivariate statistical analyses, research methods, human aging, and public health administration. Wood’s research interests include disaster preparedness, public education and risk communication, HIV/AIDS among high-risk populations, and program evaluation.

In collaboration with the Southern California Earthquake Center, Wood helped design and implement the evaluation for the 2009 and 2010 Great California ShakeOut earthquake drill, as well as the 2011 Great Central U.S. ShakeOut earthquake drill. She has managed two major UCLA research studies on preparedness: the National Survey of Disaster Experiences and Preparedness and the California Earthquake Study of Household Preparedness.
