RAPID Projects on Hurricane Sandy
Mon. 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Interlocken B
Hurricane Sandy might be the second most expensive weather-related hazard in the United States, following Hurricane Katrina in 2005. This session will discuss three National Science Foundation Rapid Response Research (RAPID) grant projects that explore varying aspects of Hurricane Sandy. Topics include communication and comprehension of surge forecasts and warnings, postdisaster risk during short-term recovery, and short-term emergent groups and aid mobilization.
