Communicating Weather Risks

Mon. 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Centennial F

This session will report on the results of several studies on the creation, communication, and use of forecast and warning information for flash floods and hurricanes. Multiple methods including mental modeling, surveys, and in-depth interviews were used to explore the processes by which forecasters, emergency managers, broadcasters, and the public interact as creators and receptors of risk information.
