Chen Chen works in the University of Notre Dame a Monitoring and Evaluation Coordinator in the Notre Dame Initiative for Global Development. Her work focuses on global development and sustainable energy projects. Dr. Chen supports the project monitoring and evaluation plan for the Uganda Connectivity for Electrification, Entrepreneurship and Education project, as well designs and develops data collection and analysis. Dr. Chen will also join the Notre Dame Environmental Change Initiative as a research fellow. Her main responsibility is to improve the Notre Dame Global Adaptation Index (ND-GAIN) that measures country vulnerability and readiness of adapting to climate change. Prior to joining ND community, Dr. Chen worked as a researcher in the Foundazione Eni Enrico Mattei (FEEM) and Euro-Mediterranean Center for Climate Change (CMCC) in Italy, where she worked with various European Commission funded projects related to the sustainable development of major economies in the context of climate change. Her expertise lies in energy-economy-environment integrated assessment modeling, as well as evaluation of climate and energy policies. Dr. Chen holds a Ph.D. in Public Economics from Defap Graduate School, jointly founded by Catholic University of Milan, University of Milan and University of Milan-Bicocca in Italy. She holds a M.Sc. and a B.A. (honors) in Economics from Zhejiang University in China.
