Rebecca Haacker
Rebecca Haacker-Santos is the Director of the Significant Opportunities in Atmospheric Research and Science (SOARS) program and the Head of Student Opportunities for Spark—UCAR Science Education with the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research in Boulder, Colorado. The programs she leads engage students in the geosciences through authentic research experiences, multidimensional mentoring, summer internships and leadership workshops. The SOARS program is an undergraduate-to-graduate bridge program designed to broaden participation in the atmospheric and related sciences and has helped students enter and succeed in graduate school, careers in academia and private sector science positions for over 15 years. Rebecca is interested in research on impact of mentoring, especially as it relates to enhancing community engagement and increasing diversity in our sciences.
