Ryan Loggins
My name is Ryan Loggins and I am currently working towards a Ph.D. in Decision Sciences and Engineering Systems in the Industrial and Systems Engineering department at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY. My research interests are in optimization, risk management, simulation, and systems analysis. For the past three years I have been working on a project through the DHS funded Coastal Hazards Center in Chapel Hill, NC. The primary focus of this project is to build decision technology for the emergency management community using engineering methodologies such as optimization and simulation. This project has been a great learning experience for me because I am able to emerge myself into the field of disaster response and use the techniques I have learned throughout my education to solve very important, present-day problems. After graduation, my goal is to work either in industry or in the public sector where I can use my skills and knowledge I have obtained at RPI.
