Head ShotDan Nyquist

Daniel Nyquist is an experienced emergency planner, business analyst, and community organizer. Building prepared and resilient communities has been his dedication for the past 14 years.

A champion for “what can be” rather than “what is,” Daniel believes that community resiliency must be based on a long-term, shared vision of success owned and driven by the whole community. In his current role, Daniel serves CO, MT, UT, WY, ND, and SD in creating programs and opportunities for citizens to take action in preparing for disasters.

Prior to joining FEMA, Daniel worked for the American Red Cross, Greater Buffalo Chapter as the Assistant Director of Emergency Services where he led his region’s community preparedness activities and volunteer training programs. In that capacity, he achieved tremendous success in improving his region’s capacity to respond to emergencies through innovative public outreach campaigns, school preparedness programs, TV programming and volunteer recruitment initiatives.

When Daniel is not working he is actively enjoying the Colorado outdoors and being a dedicated father and husband to his three children and wife.
