Glenn Pomeroy

Glenn Pomeroy is the Chief Executive Officer for the California Earthquake Authority (CEA) since April 2008, which is dedicated to helping California homeowners prepare for damaging earthquakes through education, mitigation and insurance.

During his first five years as CEO, he led a bipartisan legislative effort before the U.S. Congress to reduce the cost of earthquake insurance, and further diversify and expand its claim-paying resources through the first earthquake-only catastrophe bond issued without involvement of traditional reinsurers. He also facilitated the introduction of CEA’s new Homeowners Choice product line, offering consumers greater control over their earthquake premium, implementation of a statewide average rate reduction, and the creation of research-based marketing and mitigation programs.

Glenn brought deep experience from both the public and private sectors to his position.

Glenn earned his law degree in his home state of North Dakota and began his career in public service when he was elected to the North Dakota House of Representatives at age 22. Following six years of legislative service, Glenn served the state as County Prosecutor, Assistant Attorney General, and North Dakota Securities Commissioner.

In 1992, Glenn was elected North Dakota Insurance Commissioner and re-elected to the post four years later. His colleagues in the National Association of Insurance Commissioners also selected Glenn to serve as its President, and he guided a number of initiatives on behalf of the nation’s insurance commissioners.

Glenn began work in the private sector in 2001 when he became head of Government and Regulatory Affairs for GE Insurance Solutions.
