Stephanie Ross, a geophysicist with the USGS Pacific and Coastal Marine Science Center, is currently the Project Manager of the SAFRR Tsunami Scenario. The scenario seeks to estimate the impacts of a tsunami on the west coast of the US, in order to guide preparedness and mitigation efforts. Previously, she led the USGS' efforts to assess marine and earthquake hazards to proposed offshore liquefied natural gas facilities, in response to requests from U.S. Congressional Representatives. She has spent over a year at sea mapping geologic formations and mineral deposits, including 1.5-mile deep dives to mid-ocean spreading centers in the submersibles Alvin and SeaCliff. She has degrees in geology and geophysics from the University of Miami and Stanford University.
