Submission Guidelines

We are accepting submissions for two categories—Research and Practice Highlights and the Poster Session. Please read the descriptions below and submit to the appropriate category using the form link.

Guidelines for both categories are as follows:

Submissions must be received by May 2, be 250 words or less, and include a separate listing of title, author/co-authors, and affiliations. Information should be entered exactly as you would like it to appear online and in the print program. In all cases, you will receive email confirmation that your submission was received.

Research and Practice Highlights

Do you have something new that you want to share with members of the hazards and disaster community?

Research and Practice Highlights are all about shining a bright light on new projects, programs, initiatives, local/state/national policies, and noteworthy publications.

Highlights are brief descriptions of your work or current projects. They are not for presentation, but rather, they will be posted online and in the printed Workshop program. This outlet allows all participants the opportunity to share what they are doing and to maximize networking potential.

You will receive email confirmation that your submission was received.

Poster Session Abstracts

Are you interested in preparing a professional poster detailing your recent research, initiative, or project?

Poster Session participants will be assigned a 4x4-foot vertical space to display a professionally formatted and printed poster highlighting recent work.

We will review your abstract and let you know if your poster is selected by May 15. To display a poster, at least one author must be available to present the poster on Sunday and Monday evening of the Workshop. The posters will be on display for the duration of the event. Abstracts for accepted poster submissions will be published online and in the print Workshop program.

Researchers Meeting Abstracts

The International Research Committee on Disasters (IRCD), in partnership with the Natural Hazards Center and the National Science Foundation CONVERGE team, will convene a Researchers Meeting focused on the theme of interdisciplinary research. While the theme will guide the organization of the meeting, research papers on any topic are welcome for submission.

More information and guidlines for submitting abstracts for this meeting are available on the Researchers Meeting page. You can also submit directly through the Researchers Meeting Submission Form.
