Monday, July 12, 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. MDT

Building capacity and technical expertise at all levels of community—from non-profit organizations to local, state, and federal governments—is necessary to effectively prepare for and respond to disasters. Training disaster volunteers, funding non-profit organizations, and engaging students in experiential learning projects are just some of the ways to build disaster expertise through collaboration. This panel will discuss a range of projects that are focused on building technical skills, cultural competency, and community engagement that can reduce risk and social vulnerability—all while bolstering the communities’ ability to respond to disasters.
