Forced Migration and Resilience in Relocation

Wednesday, July 14, 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. MDT

Those forced to relocate due to disasters, humanitarian crises, and climate risks can experience uneven outcomes—especially in the long term—however, some communities are more resilient to the impacts of migration and relocation than others. Using recent work with Vietnamese refugees and informal communities in Puerto Rico as case studies, presenters will examine factors that can lead to resilience, as well as ways that scholars, policymakers, and others who work in such contexts can increase resilience capacity and improve community engagement practices.
