Science Communication for Policy and the Public

Monday, July 12, 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. MDT

There is much to be done to restore public faith in science. One step toward achieving this is to ensure the voices of scientists are front and center when their work, their findings, and research implications are being discussed. The next-generation hazards workforce needs to be well-trained in communicating in a clear and engaging way across multiple platforms and to people from a variety of backgrounds. This session will discuss what those studying disasters need to know to have straightforward science conversations with the media, policymakers, and others who can help them apply their work.
