Social Science Advances and Weather Warnings

In recent decades, social, behavioral, and economic sciences have become integral to successfully communicating weather information. At the same time, great strides in the meteorological sciences have increased the accuracy and timeliness of weather forecasts and models. This session will explore the ways in which social, behavioral and economic sciences can support physical scientists in facilitating protective action decision-making. Panelists will also discuss efforts and initiatives that have used this research to address challenges associated with weather warnings.
