Prioritizing Justice in Neighborhood Revitalization

Wednesday, July 13, 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. MDT

This session will discuss Prioritizing Spatial Justice in Neighborhood Revitalization: Adaptation and Resilience Building, a Florida Sea Grant-funded project focused on Black communities in Jacksonville, Florida. This community-centered project focuses on injustices in access to resources and services and promotes equitable rights, particularly as the uneven negative impacts of climate change mount. The research is being undertaken in cycles of participatory action research, the goal of which is to learn from the experiences and perspectives of stakeholders, including community members, students, scientists, and policy makers. In this session we will explore the local context in Jacksonville and why we are working with the community in this way.
