Game Night: Building Community and a Culture of Disaster Resilience Through Play
Sunday, June 14, 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. MDT
Location: Interlocken A
Playing games is serious work that can transform how people think about disaster and prepare to act. This session will explore how playing games in an interactive learning environment can strengthen understanding of risks and enhance community readiness and resilience. Attendees at our inaugural Workshop Game Night will first hear from game creators, then they will choose from a wide variety of games to play. Options include board games about wildfires and smoke exposure, role-playing exercises based on flood scenarios, and more. Play will spark discussion about how disaster games that mirror real-world challenges can be used to foster collaboration, creativity, and rapid problem-solving while ultimately inspiring communities to build disaster resilience.
