Research, Practice, and Policy Session
Wednesday, June 17, 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. MDT
Location: Interlocken C
Wildfires, floods, extreme heat events, and other disasters can have a ripple effect on human health. To better understand health outcomes for U.S. populations, the Natural Hazards Center—with support from the National Institutes of Health and the National Science Foundation—launched the Health and Extreme Weather Research Awards Program to examine the complex physical and psychological health impacts of disasters. In this session, researchers will share perspectives on the health ramifications of recent extreme weather events and highlight potential protective measures to keep people safe and healthy in the aftermath.
