Climate Change Mitigation, Adaptation, or Preparedness?

Thursday, 3:30-5:00 p.m., Interlocken A

This Workshop's audience is, broadly, the hazards and disasters community. In climate change policy terms, that means we are concerned with adaptation to climate change. In disaster risk reduction terms, we are concerned with mitigation of natural hazards. And in disaster and humanitarian response terms, we are concerned with preparedness for disaster.

By addressing these differences in semantics and exploring if this different vocabulary leads to different actions and priorities, this session will help those addressing climate change from the perspective of hazards and disaster risk reduction, preparedness, and response better define their problem and policy-making space.
