Boulder Creek Floodplain Field Trip

Wed. 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
(Return bus leaves Boulder at 3:00 p.m.)

Stroll along beautiful Boulder Creek Path on an expert-led floodplain tour.

We’ll catch a bus at the Omni Interlocken Hotel in Broomfield at 10:00 a.m. and travel to Boulder to begin the tour. The city of Boulder has one of the highest flood risks in Colorado.

We will make frequent stops along Boulder Creek to survey the floodplain and learn about some of the development decisions that have either increased or reduced the community’s vulnerability to floods since the last “big one” in 1894.

The walking tour will last a little longer than one hour and proceed at a leisurely pace.

Following the walking tour, you’ll be on your own to eat lunch in historic downtown Boulder surrounded by the spectacular Flatirons. Enjoy shopping, dining, and entertainment on Pearl Street, a delightful five-block outdoor pedestrian mall. Visit the Boulder Dushanbe Tea House close to Boulder Creek or any of the other 100-plus restaurants near downtown. Following lunch, pick up a souvenir or be entertained by the many street performers. Participants will have more than two hours to explore before returning to the bus at 3:00 p.m.

Space is limited (a maximum of 40 participants will be allowed), so sign up soon! The $20 fee must be prepaid and is non-refundable (unless the tour is cancelled because of inclement weather).
