Ben Billings works for Senator Mary Landrieu (D-LA) as the staff director for the Senate Subcommittee on Disaster Recovery, which is a unit of the Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs. In this capacity, he manages the subcommittee's oversight and legislative functions and advises Landrieu on homeland security issues, including emergency management and disaster recovery. He joined the Senator's staff in 2004 as legislative aide handling homeland security, foreign policy, immigration, maritime, and labor issues and transferred to the Committee in 2007. He has also worked in the U.S. House of Representatives and the Law Enforcement Defense Division of the Texas Attorney General's Office. Billings received his bachelor's in history from the University of Texas at Austin, a master's in International Peace and Security from King's College London, and a master's in national security and strategic studies from the U.S. Naval War College. He is a native of New Orleans.
