Daniel C. Goodrich is an emergency management coordinator for Lockheed Martin Space Systems, where he administers the award-winning Red Bag Program, and an instructor and research associate for the Mineta Transportation Institute (MTI) at San Jose State University. He is a Fellow of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies and has delivered papers in Germany, Portugal, Turkey, and Japan on aspects of emergency management. He has also been a member of an expert working group on nuclear security issues for NATO and exercise director for the San Jose Metropolitan Medical Task Force.

Goodrich has just completed a monograph with Dr. Frances Edwards on campus emergency planning published by MTI. His most recent book chapters are, Supply Chain Security and the Need for Continuous Assessment in “Supply Chain Security” (Praeger, forthcoming 2009) and Organizing for Emergency Management in ICMA’s “Emergency Management, Second Edition,” both co-authored with Dr. Edwards. He has entries on nuclear topics in The WMD Encyclopedia.

Goodrich has worked in emergency management at the city and county levels and has provided training services in emergency management for NASA/Ames Research Center staff. He is now a consultant to the California Department of Transportation. He served in the United States Marine Corps for 10 years, including leadership positions in Security Forces and in the Army Reserve as a small arms instructor. Goodrich has a master’s of public administration from San Jose State University and is a certified emergency manager.
