John HandmerJohn Handmer

John Handmer is Innovation Professor in Risk and Sustainability at RMIT University in Melbourne where he is head of the Centre for Risk and Community Safety. He is also an adjunct professor at the Australian National University (ANU). He holds a bachelor's and PhD from ANU, and a master's from the University of Toronto. Before joining RMIT he was at the Flood Hazard Research Centre of Middlesex University in London, where he was professor of environmental geography and director of research for the faculty of social science and education. His current research is dedicated to improving community resilience and sustainability through providing the evidence base for policy and practice.
