Ryan Pietramali is risk analysis branch chief for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Previously, Pietramali was the Utah Division of Emergency Services state public assistance officer, overseeing disaster recovery programs. 

Pietramali has acted in numerous disaster recovery leadership positions in Utah, including serving as deputy state coordinating officer/public assistance officer, overseeing the Fire Mitigation Assistance Grant Program, and developing and chairing the Utah Long-Range Recovery Committee for Katrina Evacuees. During these assignments, Pietramali developed short- and long-term recovery plans and procedures, chaired multiagency/ multidisciplinary recovery committees, and addressed numerous and contentious recovery issues.

In 2005, Pietramali was placed in charge of getting Utah ready for the National Emergency Management Accreditation Program (EMAP) assessment, which required coordinating all state agencies with core functions in the State Emergency Operations Plan to comply with the 54 EMAP standards. In 2007, Utah received full accreditation.

Before joining the State of Utah staff, Pietramali served for two years as the project impact coordinator for Salt Lake City and had tremendous success administering the Project Impact Grant, which leveraged more than $1.5 million for the city's mitigation efforts. 

Pietramali has a bachelor’s degree in geography from the University of Utah, with an emphasis on natural hazard reduction and a master’s certificate in Homeland Security from the University of Denver.
