Alan Rhodes
Alan Rhodes is the community safety research and evaluation manager at Country Fire Authority (CFA) in Victoria, Australia. Rhodes has worked at CFA for 15 years in the areas of community education and development and research and evaluation of community programs. Rhodes research interest is in community preparedness and response to wildfire. He has undertaken a number of post-fire studies of major wildfires in Australia and has worked on various projects for the Bushfire Cooperative Research Centre, where he has been involved in looking at the implementation of the Australian “stay or go” approach. He has recently been working with Sarah McCaffrey of the U.S. Forest Service on alternatives to evacuation in several U.S. communities.
Rhodes is currently working on the CFA Taskforce for the Bushfire Royal Commission into the 2009 Victorian fires.
