Coastal Heritage At Risk: Mitigating Disaster Threats in Historic Coastal Zones

When coastal landscapes are damaged from the impact of a changing climate, more than the physical topography is affected. Irreplaceable cultures and communities are also at risk. This session will explore the threat to fragile threads of cultural memory from rising seas, more powerful storms, and other cataclysmic natural disasters emerging from climate change. We want to encourage broader dialogue about integrating cultural heritage protection into disaster planning and mitigation.
