BBQ at NCAR Mesa Lab with Wildfire Risk Interpretive Tours*

Mon. 6:00-9:00 p.m.

Buses will pick up participants attending the barbecue in front of the Renaissance and Omni hotels at 6:00 p.m.

Join local emergency management, warning systems, and hydrometerological hazards experts Kevin Stewart of the Urban Drainage and Flood Control District, Mike Chard of the Boulder Office of Emergency Management, and Robert Glancy of the National Weather Service for an interpretive walk along the walls of the NCAR Mesa Lab patio.

These three have been in constant touch as recent Colorado wildfires have raged and been extinguished, exposing even more people and structures to post-fire flash flood risk. Their perspective will reveal the wildfire and flood risk-scape overlaid on the Mesa Lab's outstanding views of the landscape, and their conversation will demonstrate a rare level of collaboration among researchers and practitioners of different disciplines.

The informal tours will begin at 7:00 and 7:45 p.m. Bring a drink and meet at the east side of the patio by the stairs.

*Attendance at the barbecue is optional and must be paid for at the time of registration.
