DoeskenNolan Doesken

Nolan Doesken has been with the Colorado Climate Center at Colorado State University since 1977 and is serving as State Climatologists since 2006. His work involves monitoring and tracking all aspects of Colorado's climate. Drought has always been a topic of "great concern" here in Colorado and a focus of much of his work. He has served continuously on Colorado's Water Availability Task Force since its inception in 1981. Doesken has co-authored several reports on drought including "The History of Drought in Colorado -- Lessons Learned and What Lies Ahead" published in 1999 but still very relevant today. Doesken is actively engaged in the National Integrated Drought Information System's Upper Colorado River Basin Pilot Project. Nolan is also the founder and national director of the Community Collaborative Rain, Hail and Snow Network (CoCoRaHS) -- a project that engages thousands of volunteers across the country in helping to measure, map and track precipitation and its impacts across the U.S.
