Molly Mowery works as a program manager in the Wildland Fire Operations Division at the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). She currently manages the Fire Adapted Communities initiative, oversees the implementation of regulatory tools in the wildland urban interface, and conducts outreach with international organizations to further NFPA’s mission to protect people and property in communities at risk from wildfire.

Before joining NFPA, Mowery worked as a natural hazards planner in Florida, where she assisted local and state government agencies with community wildfire mitigation and post-disaster redevelopment plans. Mowery’s experience also includes international work in environmental and sustainable development policy in the public and private sectors.

Mowery has published articles and presented to a wide range of audiences on the topics of wildfire mitigation, natural hazards, and land use planning. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from Naropa University (Boulder, Colorado) and a Master in City Planning degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Cambridge, Massachusetts).
