TangZhenghong Tang

Zhenghong Tang is an assistant professor in the Community and Regional Planning Program in the College of Architecture at University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He is also a courtesy assistant professor in the School of Natural Resources, a faculty fellow in the Nebraska Water Center and the Center for Advanced Land Management Information Technologies at University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He received his Ph.D degree from the Hazard Reduction and Recovery Center at Texas A&M University in 2007.

His main research interests mainly focused on local response to environmental hazards. He is interested in developing local jurisdictional planning decision making theory for long-term, uncertain, environmental and hazard challenges, such as tsunami, drought, and climate change. He has published over 40 papers in environmental and hazard journals. His most recent research interests address a critical research topic: How well are the U.S. top 100 fastest growing regions planning for future droughts and water shortage challenges? His research team is particularly examining the local drought preparedness capacity in local land use plans and local all-hazards plans.
