Overcoming Impediments to Hazard Mitigation and Climate Adaption
Tue. 2:00-3:30 p.m., Interlocken A/B
Why we are not more successful in implementing safer, more sustainable development and redevelopment? This plenary will help us: understand why—despite the billions spent on hazard mitigation and the work of so many dedicated people and groups—foreseeable natural events continue to result in disasters and suffering. It will also present suggestions for building a safer, more just, and sustainable society. This discussion has been designed to both conclude the Natural Hazards Workshop and transition to the International Hazard Mitigation Practitioners Symposium following the Workshop.
