Griffin is a soon-to-be graduate of the geography master’s program at the University of South Carolina. For the past two years she has worked with the Hazards and Vulnerability Research Institute on a National Science Foundation project exploring sociospatial disparities in Hurricane Katrina disaster recovery along Mississippi’s Gulf Coast. Her own research focuses on the intersection of social vulnerability, social capital, and hazard events. Before pursuing her degree at USC, Christina was the statewide program evaluator for the North Carolina Coalition Against Sexual Assault. While there, she developed and coordinated the first primary prevention initiative in the state in conjunction with North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services and the Centers for Disease Control. Christina is currently pursuing employment in the field of emergency management.
