Lori PeekLori Peek

Lori Peek is an assistant professor in the Department of Sociology at Colorado State University. Her research focuses on the social impacts of disasters for vulnerable populations. She has studied the backlash against Muslim Americans that followed the 9/11 attacks, as well as the consequences of displacement for children and families in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

Peek is author of the forthcoming book Behind the Backlash (Temple University Press, 2010), and guest edited a special issue on children and disasters for the journal Children, Youth, and Environments. She also serves as the associate chair for the Social Science Research Council Task Force on Hurricane Katrina and Rebuilding the Gulf Coast and is a former National Institute of Mental Health Research Education in Disaster Mental Health Fellow. Peek earned a Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 2005.
