Current Directions in Resilience Research

Mon. 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Centennial E

The Community and Regional Resilience Institute held a resilience research workshop before the 2009 Natural Hazards Research and Applications Workshop. Experts from different resilience research communities shared their knowledge about, experience with, and views on resilience research. Since that event, interest in resilience as a focus for both research and policy has accelerated rapidly. Examples include the National Research Council study Increasing National Resilience to Hazards and Disasters; a major international conference at Arizona State University in March 2011, Resilience 2011; and CARRI's continuing efforts to enlarge the resilience research and practice knowledge base. This session brings together leaders of the NRC study, the Resilience 2011 conference, and CARRI’s research component to reflect on current directions in resilience research.
