Integrating Climate Adaptation into Federal Disaster Policy
Tue. 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Interlocken B
Recent events have raised questions about when and how to integrate climate adaptation into federal disaster policies across agencies. This session will discuss when it's appropriate for federal disaster policy to take account of potentially changing risks, if there are transferable lessons between hazard mitigation and climate adaptation, and how projected climate impacts can be incorporated into current disaster policies and regulations. Panelists will examine what changes are needed, what the the biggest challenges and opportunities are, and what the proper roles of different stakeholders—including researchers—should be.
