Coordinating Federal Investment in Multidisciplinary Disaster Research

In order to develop a strong evidence base for disaster preparedness and response, the U.S. government has invested in research and evaluation efforts in universities and centers of excellence. Unfortunately, there isn't wide-scale coordination and data sharing among these federally funded programs. Furthermore, these developmental programs don't routinely involve the practice community or share their results with them. To increase coordination of these efforts and their relevance to end-users, it is necessary to create a multidisciplinary and multiagency group to coordinate sustainable, evidence-based practices.
