Emergency Management in China

Sun. 3:30-5:00 p.m., Centennial F

This session assembles a panel of experts to examine questions related to the state of emergency management in China today. What are the hits and misses of Chinese emergency management reforms in the past decade, particularly since the 2003 SARS outbreak? Does it give any insight into the near future of Chinese emergency management?

The panel—some whom have directly shaped reform efforts and participated in recent relief and recovery operations—will respond to these questions. The panel hopes that creating familiarity with Chinese emergency management policies will stimulate cross-national comparisons from attendees and add to the collective understanding of national emergency management policies.
