Burcak Basbug Erkan

Burcak Busbug Erkan is an associate professor at the Middle East Technical University (METU). Basbug was the course director of MSc disaster management and resilience at Coventry University between August 2019 and August 2020. Basbug was the director of the METU Disaster Management Centre between 2008 and 2018. Basbug has 24 years of experience in disaster risk reduction, disaster risk management, policy development, resilience, disaster risk finance, and disaster risk management education. Basbug has been in the field for Syrian Refugee Camps 2015, the 2011 Van Earthquakes, May 2014 Soma Mine Fire, the 2020 Giresun Flood, the 2020 Izmir Earthquake, 2023 Kahramanmaras Earthquake.
